Barcode lines filler
The vertical lines above the upper lip, the "barcode", come from the movement of the mouth, from sun and often from smoking. A very soft hyaluronic acid gel, placed near the surface, smooths the skin without adding volume to the lip. The mouth keeps moving as before.
It is precision work: little product, close to the surface, in lines rather than points. When the skin is very thin and the lines deep, filler solves part of it and the skin asks for another treatment on top. We see that at the consultation.

What changes with barcode lines filler

Why it looks natural
A stiff upper lip area gives more away than the lines ever did. That is why the gel here is very soft and stays just under the skin: enough to smooth the creases, never enough to add volume or weight to the lip. The injections run in shallow lines rather than points, with little product close to the surface. The mouth keeps moving exactly as before; the lipstick just stops bleeding.

What causes the lines?
The muscle around your mouth contracts thousands of times a day; add sun and smoking, and the thin skin here is the first to crease.
Can I have it if I smoke?
You can. The result lasts less if you keep smoking, because the cause continues. We tell you that, without the lecture.
Does it add volume to the lip?
No. The gel goes into the skin above the lip. If you want volume, that is another treatment, lip filler, and it can be done in the same session.
How long does it last?
Between 9 and 12 months. It is an area with a lot of movement.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream first, and lidocaine in the gel. You feel shallow, quick pinches and little more.
What about recovery?
You may have small red dots or bumps for 24 to 48 hours; they pass. Just keep make-up off for the first 12 hours.
Can it be dissolved?
Yes. It is hyaluronic acid, and it dissolves with hyaluronidase if you need it.
