Under-eye filler

Cosmo Clinic Team

Under-Eye Filler (also known as tear trough filler) is a non-surgical treatment that addresses hollowness, dark circles, and tired appearance beneath the eyes. Using hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, the area is gently filled and smoothed to refresh the under-eye contour.

At Cosmo Clinic in Lisbon, tear trough filler is one of the more technically demanding filler procedures due to the delicate anatomy and thin skin of the area. Our doctors assess each patient's anatomy thoroughly before proceeding and use conservative volumes to ensure a natural result.

What is under-eye filler

Under-eye filler is an aesthetic medicine procedure that uses low-hydrophilicity hyaluronic acid to correct the palpebromalar groove, the deep trough between the lower eyelid and the cheek. The result is a visibly rested, less shadowed eye area without surgery. It is one of the most requested periorbital treatments in Lisbon for anyone wanting to ease the look of chronic fatigue.

Who is it for

Adults with under-eye hollowing caused by the palpebromalar groove (shadow resulting from volume loss at the lid-cheek junction), reduced infraorbital fat, or a persistently tired appearance despite adequate sleep. Not indicated where prominent fat herniation, significant chronic fluid retention, or very lax skin is the primary issue, in those cases, alternative treatments may be better suited.

What to expect from the session

A full session takes around 40 minutes, including 20 minutes of topical anaesthesia. Hyaluronic acid is deposited preferentially via atraumatic cannula to reduce bruising risk, in a deep plane over the periosteum. Volume applied is typically 0.3 to 0.5 ml per side, the approach is deliberately conservative, as touch-up sessions are preferable to overcorrection.

Results timeline

Correction is visible immediately, but final results settle after 14 days as swelling resolves and the product hydrates the surrounding tissue. The periocular zone has a slow metabolic rate, which means duration is notably longer than most facial areas: 12 to 18 months on average.

Aftercare

Apply a cold compress (not direct ice) for 10 minutes immediately after the session to reduce swelling. Avoid make-up for the first 12 hours, intense exercise, and heat (saunas, hot baths) for 48 hours. Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the first few nights. Daily sunscreen is essential to preserve the result long-term.

Why Cosmo Clinic

The periocular zone demands anatomical precision and deep vascular awareness. Our medical team in Lisbon applies techniques that minimise the risk of Tyndall effect and bruising. Consultations are available in Portuguese and English, book a personalised assessment with our team.
